Come learn more about what's currently going on in DeKalb and be sure to bring your questions for a Q&A session with Commissioner Bradshaw.

Steve Bradshaw was born in Charlotte, NC into a military family as his father spent a career in the US Navy. He was also born into a religious family as both of his grandfathers were pastors. Upon his father's retirement from military service in 1977 the family moved to Savannah, GA where Steve spent his formative years. He considers Savannah to be his hometown.

Upon graduating from Armstrong State College with a BA in 1986 Steve entered the US Army as a Second Lieutenant and was formally trained as a tank commander. Over a seven-year military career Steve served in various line and staff positions of increased responsibility including service in the Middle East during the First Persian Gulf War. The military taught him discipline, sacrifice and devotion to duty. He left the Army at the rank of Captain in 1993 to pursue opportunities in the private sector.

Steve has held several operations, business development, and management positions of increased responsibility over several years with various organizations including John Harland Company, Spherion, Briggs Equipment, and Delta Global Staffing a subsidiary of Delta Airlines. The private sector taught him flexibility and the importance of checking the numbers.
Steve received a Master's Degree in Public Administration in 1998 from Georgia State University. After that, he was invited to be an Adjunct Professor in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State where a taught various graduate and undergraduate-level courses. Being in the classroom taught him patience.
For many years Steve has been engaged in the local community serving on various boards of directors including The Giving Tree (An adoption resource agency), The Clarkston Community Center, and Pride Rings in Stone Mountain (PRISM).  He also served on the State Water and Wastewater certification board appointed by Gov. Roy Barnes.

Steve has been married to his wife Diane for 34 years. They have lived in DeKalb County for 28 years. He enjoys reading, playing golf, and watching professional football. His favorite team is the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In November 2016 Steve was elected to a seat on the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners with 89% of the vote in and took office on January 1, 2017. Steve was re-elected to his seat in November 2020 without opposition. Steve was also unanimously elected by his peers as Presiding Officer of the Board of Commissioners in 2020 and 2021.

Steve has discharged the duties of his office with diligence and integrity and feels honored to serve the citizens of District 4 and DeKalb County.
